About Futbolnomics
Futbolnomics was born from a conversation between Carla Costa and Bruno Soler while they were studying for an MBA in Barcelona. The two shared three big passions: entrepreneurship, business and football. As they dug deeper into strategy, finance, marketing and management, they began to look at the sport they loved most from a completely different angle. They discovered that behind every transfer, every stadium, every sponsorship, every broadcasting deal and every sporting decision lay a complex economic machinery that very few explained rigorously.
They missed a publication that analyzed football with the same seriousness applied to other major global industries. A space that helped explain why some clubs create more value than others, how big deals are financed, what impact new technologies have, how business models evolve, or where an industry that moves hundreds of billions of dollars a year is heading.
With that idea, Futbolnomics was born: an independent editorial project devoted to explaining football through the lens of economics, business, innovation and strategy. Our goal is not to replace sporting analysis but to complement it, offering the context needed to understand what happens off the pitch and how those decisions end up shaping what happens on it.
Futbolnomics is designed both for professionals in the football industry and for fans who want to go a step beyond Sunday's result. For those who believe that understanding the business is also a way to enjoy the sport more. Because the better you understand how football works, the better you understand why football is today one of the most influential and exciting industries on the planet.
The founders

Carla Costa
Co-founder and editorial director of Futbolnomics
Carla Costa is a journalist specialized in communication and economic analysis applied to sport. A Journalism graduate with an MBA, during her postgraduate studies she discovered that football could be understood from a far broader perspective than the purely sporting one: as a global industry where economics, strategy, investment, innovation and management converge.
Together with Bruno Soler she founded Futbolnomics with the aim of explaining football from the side that rarely makes the headlines. In her analysis she covers the financial impact of transfers, the evolution of clubs' business, broadcasting rights, sponsorship, stadium management, the governance of the sport and the major trends transforming the industry.
Her mission is to bring to a wide audience the economic mechanisms that explain why football moves hundreds of billions of dollars and how decisions off the pitch end up conditioning what happens on it.

Bruno Soler
Co-founder and head of analysis of Futbolnomics
Bruno Soler is an economist with an MBA, specialized in business strategy, financial analysis and sports economics. Convinced that football is one of the most fascinating sectors for studying value creation, he devotes his work to debunking myths and explaining, with data, how the football industry really works.
During his MBA he met Carla Costa and they discovered a shared vision: there were thousands of outlets talking about football from the sporting result, but very few that analyzed the business sustaining the spectacle.
At Futbolnomics he focuses on explaining club economics, ownership models, the profitability of investments, the transfer market, player valuation, the finances of FIFA and UEFA, the evolution of broadcasting rights and the business strategies redefining the world's most popular sport.
His goal is to show that behind every goal, every transfer and every major competition lies a complex economic machinery whose understanding allows a much better grasp of football's present and future.
